  • Email submissions to the subject line should start with V500.(#) and the edition number followed by the title of your work. For example V500.1 - Moby Dick

  • The word count should not exceed 500 words, title included, and the story has to be inspired by/relevant to the theme. No minimum.

  • Please submit only one piece per edition. It has to be unpublished, in English and solely your own work. Translation of other authors' work is not acceptable.

  • Please add a short bio in 3rd person, (no more than 50 words) and a link to your personal website or social media handle.

  • Paste the submissions into the body of an email. No attachments, please. All submissions (including pieces sent by our editorial team) are read blind.

  • We aim to publish 4 pieces for each edition, we may suggest minor edits/changes to those pieces before publication. The authors of the selected work will be contacted via email prior to the announcement.

  • One piece that didn't make the shortlist, will receive feedback within 4 weeks from the closing date of the edition to which it was submitted.

  • Simultaneous submissions are not accepted for the V500.

  • We may request permission to publish in our VFF pieces that we really liked but were not selected for the V500. We reserve the right not to publish any stories in our V500 if the shortlisted pieces were well written but not a good fit for our zine.

  • Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer any payment for the work we publish but we are hoping to change this in the future.

  • No racism, sexism, homophobia, sexual or explicit violence, animal cruelty and religious hatred.
